Mission
28.5 is building the future of structured basketball for players 18+, offering a consistent and competitive platform where athletes of all levels can grow, commit, and experience the game at its highest standard. Through organized, high-quality play centered on the 28.5 inch (Size 6) basketball, we create opportunities for developing, seasoned, and new players to train, compete, and belong in a system designed for them.

Our vision is for 28.5 to define the future of basketball development-setting the standard for structured training and competition worldwide. We aim to reach every player who uses a 28.5 basketball, creating a global platform where talent is developed, access is expanded through free youth initiatives, and professionals and everyday players coexist in one unified basketball community.

Community,
Community is at the heart of everything we do. We serve adult basketball players of all backgrounds, experience levels, and stages of their basketball journey, from former athletes and current competitors to recreational players, returning hoopers, and anyone who believes there is still more basketball left to play. As a women and nonbinary, GNC-focused basketball organization, we are committed to creating a space where players feel safe, respected, supported, and valued. We welcome everyone who wants to play with a size 6 basketball and be part of a positive, inclusive basketball environment.

Safety is a core part of our culture. We are committed to maintaining a space where all members can show up authentically and participate without fear of discrimination, harassment, or disrespect. 28.5 proudly supports and welcomes members of the LGBTQ+ community, the BIPOC community, and all individuals who share our values of respect, inclusion, and community. We have zero tolerance for hate, discrimination, harassment, or behavior that makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome. We believe basketball is for everyone, and we are dedicated to building a community where people can safely connect, compete, and grow.

Our
Purpose
Basketball creates connection, confidence, and community, yet for many people, access to structured development, meaningful competition, and supportive basketball spaces disappears after youth sports. That reality led us to ask a simple question: What about everyone else? The players returning to the game after years away, the athletes looking to continue growing, and the people who love basketball but have never had consistent access to coaching, development, or community. 28.5 was created to fill that gap by building an accessible and inclusive basketball community centered around the 28.5 in. (size 6) basketball, the ball traditionally used in women’s basketball and by many players whose experiences have long been underrepresented in the sport.

Our purpose extends beyond what happens on the court. As a women and nonbinary, GNC-focused organization, we create opportunities for people to learn, compete, connect, and belong while helping elevate awareness of women's basketball and the communities connected to it. Through programming, education, partnerships, and community-building, we are working to expand access, build skills, and create a more innovative game. Everyone deserves to hoop no matter where you are in life, we're committed to creating that space.
